Motorcycles ČZ with a Story

The new exhibition Motorcycles ČZ with a Story presents two dozen motorcycles of the ČZ brand. ČZ brand motorcycles were produced in series for 65 years.

The exhibition, created in collaboration between the National Technical Museum (NTM) and the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague, presents the construction boom of the second half of the 19th century and the early 20th century.

Czech High Gothic in Models

The exhibition, located within the "Medieval Construction Machines" display, is the result of many years of work by experts and students from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Czech Technical University (CTU). From a large collection of models of medieval buildings, those constructions initiated by Charles IV were selected.

Water-powered sawmill with overshot water wheel, model

In the water-powered sawmill, logs were processed into lumber: beams, laths, boards, planks, etc., which were used in construction.

Tatra 77a automobile, 1937

This newly restored car belonged to the Czech-German entrepreneur Evžen Porák. The Tatra 77 was the world’s first automobile designed according to aerodynamic principles and also mass-produced.

Purlin roof truss from a house in Jihlava, modern model

The roof truss with a lying stool and hanging beams from house No. 1239 in Jihlava was dendrochronologically dated to the year 1589. This type was common in the 16th century.

“Ladder-style” parlor circulation stove, mid-19th century

This cast iron stove provided good heating and was also a valuable decorative feature of the room. This unique piece is adorned with a relief featuring mythological motifs.

Iron roof structure of the newly completed part of St. Vitus Cathedral, period model from 1898

The model was made by students of the State Industrial School in Pardubice in 1898 from steel and wood.

Collection of stamped bricks, turn of the 19th and 20th centuries

From the late 18th century, bricks were produced in standardized sizes, which made ordering easier. Each brickyard had its own stamp. This collection comes from Josef Štogr’s collection.
