3. APRIL – 31 OCTOBER 2019 EXHIBITION

Take the train from Prague to Pilsen safely, comfortably and in less than an hour. The reconstruction of the railway line between Rokycany and Plzeň is a necessary part of achieving this goal. In addition to the modification of the line itself, stations and platforms, the construction of the Ejpovice tunnel was a key issue.

The tunnel runs under the Homolka and Chlum landforms, consists of two single-track tunnel tubes and is approximately 4150 m long. The line between Rokycany and Plzeň was thus shortened from the original length of 20.2 km by more than six kilometres. The tunnel was driven by a TBM S-799 – Viktorie, the largest in the Czech Republic.
