EXHIBITIONS

Interactive exhibition of statics, an exhibition about the Ejpovice tunnel and an exhibition connected with the 100th anniversary of Miroslav Zikmund’s birth. Bold paths, buildings, technologies – solid foundations and bold goals.

FILMMAKERS HANZELKA AND ZIKMUND
from 3 April 2019

Pilsen native Miroslav Zikmund celebrated his 100th birthday on February 14, 2019, and at the same time, April 22 marks exactly 60 years since the H+Z pair set off on their second expedition from the National Technical Museum building. The exhibition is dedicated to both the unforgettable round-the-world journeys (especially the second one – the Asian one), but also to the equally adventurous direction of the two economic engineers towards photography, film and writing. The exhibition also includes stereoscopic photographs taken by Hanzelka and Zikmund during their second trip.

EJPOVICE TUNNEL. MODERNISATION OF THE LINE ROKYCANY – PLZEŇ.
from 3 April 2019

Do you know who Viktoria is? And do you know that she is responsible for the longest railway tunnel in the Czech Republic? The NTM Plasy Centre of Construction Heritage has prepared an exhibition about the important transport construction, during which the most modern techniques were used and several records were broken.

THE DANUBE – ODRA – LABE WATER CORRIDOR.
from 3 April 2019

the “Crossroads of the Three Seas” is sometimes called the ambitious project to connect Europe’s three main watersheds. A travelling exhibition presents the advantages of water transport and the expected benefits of the planned Danube-Oder-Labe Canal.

STATIC – WHY IT (WON’T) FALL DOWN
from 27 June 2019

An exposition of building construction complemented by a look at construction through the eyes of a structural engineer. What often remains hidden from our eyes? An interactive educational workplace reveals what lies beneath the surface of buildings, behind the complex calculations of structural engineers, giving you the opportunity to try out the basic principles of physics for yourself. The new space is also complemented by a series of historical plans and models, offering a comparison of the history and present of this branch of construction.

The exhibitions and the new educational facilities are accessible within the Exposition of Civil Engineering in the former brewery building.
