3rd APRIL – 31st OCTOBER 2019 EXHIBITION

To get from Prague to Pilsen by train with safety and in less than hour – that was the main task. According to fulfil it was crucial to reconstruct the original railway track between town of Rokycany and Pilsen. Next to upgrading the track itself together with stations and platforms it was necessary to build a tunnel called Ejpovice.

Tunnel leads through terrain shapes called Homolka and Chlum and it is made of two single tunnel track tubes and its length is approximately 4150m. Thanks to the tunnel the length of the track between Rokycany and Pilsen was reduced for more than 6 kilometres (the original length was 20,2km). The tunnel was made by machine TBM S-799- Viktorie – which is the greatest in Czech Republic.

Tunneling machine Viktorie in numbers:
Cutter (head of it) diametr: 9,84 m
Length: 115 m
Weight: 1860 t
Maximum speed: 80 mm/min
Average speed: 4 km/year
Pressure: 64,7 MN
